Crush Image is a free online image compressor that lets you shrink JPG and PNG files to smaller file sizes.
About
Crush Image helps you compress images online instantly. This free tool lets you compress JPG, PNG, HEIC, and WebP files while maintaining high image quality.
Crush Image has multiple options for image compression including quality, max height/width, and retaining EXIF data. The quality option lets you choose how much you want to compress the image. We default to 70% quality, which is a good balance between image quality and file size. The max height/width option lets you set the maximum height or width of the image of the longest edge. The image will be resized to fit within the specified dimensions while maintaining the aspect ratio. By default this is set to 4400 pixels. If you don't want to resize the image, leave this option blank. The retain EXIF data option lets you choose whether or not to keep the EXIF data in the image. EXIF data is metadata that is stored in the image file and contains information about the image such as the camera model, date taken, and location. By default this is set to false.
All compression is done in your browser, which means your images are never uploaded to our server. This ensures that your images are safe and secure. This also means there are no limits to how many images you can compress and you don't have to wait for your images to upload or download.
Compression can be divided into two types: lossless and lossy. Lossless compression removes unnecessary or duplicated bits from the original file, resulting in a smaller file with the same quality. Lossy compression, on the other hand, removes excessive or unimportant bits, resulting in a smaller file but with reduced quality. How much you want to compress the file depends on how much loss of quality you're comfortable with.
Why would you want to compress images? Image files can be quite large, especially if they come from a professional camera. These large images can take up a lot of storage space on your phone or computer, preventing you from taking more photos or storing other important files. Compressing them would free up that space and solve this problem. This is essential when trying to speed up your website or app. Large images can slow down your website, which can negatively affect your SEO and user experience. Compressing them can help you speed up your website and improve your SEO.
How does the image compressor work? Our tool uses lossy compression to reduce the size of image files. It supports four file types: PNG, JPG/JPEG, HEIC, and WebP. When you upload your images, our system intelligently analyzes them and reduces them to the smallest possible size without significantly affecting the quality. All compression is done locally on your device, which means your images are never uploaded to our server. This ensures that your images are safe and secure. Note that HEIC photos from iPhone are converted to JPG when being compressed.
What image formats are accepted? Crush Image supports image formats: PNG, JPG/JPEG, HEIC, and WebP. PNG is a lossless format, which means it doesn't lose quality when compressed. JPG/JPEG, HEIC and WebP are lossy formats, which means they lose quality when compressed. However, the loss of quality is usually not noticeable to the human eye.
To get started, simply click on the "Upload a File" button and select the images you want to compress and they'll be instantly compressed. You can then download them individually or all at once in a zip file.
